Dec 31st- Octopus
Marty and I have returned from a wonderful, relaxing visit to the Pacific Northwest. My Mum is doing a bit better and I was relieved that my brother and his wife filled in 110% for us while we were away.
I'm way behind on what' going on here, I posted some iPhone pics via a smug app but the captions didn't upload and I am noticing neither did the exif info. I hope all is well with you and yours. I would like to wish all my DP friends a Happy New Year and thank you all for the photo friendship we have here!!
Here is to good things in 2012!!

The Octopus Tree, also known as The Council Tree is located a few hundred feet from Cape Meares Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast.

The Octopus Tree is a Sitka Spruce shaped like an upside down Octopus.
No one knows its actual age because that would require chopping down the tree to count the rings. However, The Octopus tree is believed to be hundreds of years old dating back to when the Indians lived in the area. In fact, there are rumors that the Octopus Tree was shaped like an octopus by the Indians to hold their canoes with their dead in it. So, the Octopus tree could have been an old burial site.

It really doesn't feel like Christmas.

And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world it is best to hold hands and stick together.

A lot of people say they want to get out of pain, and I'm sure that's true, but they aren't willing to make healing a high priority. They aren't willing to look inside to see the source of their pain in order to deal with it.

“Imaginary obstacles are insurmountable. Real ones aren't. But you can't tell the difference when you have no real information. Fear can create even more imaginary obstacles than ignorance can. That's why the smallest step away from speculation and into reality can be an amazing relief. The Reality Solution means: Do it before you're ready.”

Hope, deceitful as it is, serves at least to lead us to the end of our lives by an agreeable route. ~François Duc de La Rochefoucauld
Dec 18th Bam!
When everything feels like it is falling apart, these two make me smile.
Having an unwell parent is the most difficult thing for me yet, and I have been through a lot.
My Mum has always been everything to me and until now I have always been able to help her when she was down. This time is proving more difficult.
